Certificate III Companion Animal Services and working towards Certificate IV Vet Nursing

Shelby has always had a special affinity with animals and a particular passion for unusual pets. This all started when she was allowed to choose her first pet rat as a child, and so began her life-long obsession with rats! This naturally expanded to a keen interest in and respect for other exotic species and wildlife.

Having always known that she would want to work with and help animals, at the start of 2022, Shelby commenced her Certificate III in Companion Animal Services. She is now subsequently undertaking Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and is on track to attaining her qualification at the end of 2023.

Shelby loves all aspects of veterinary nursing – having had experience in emergency and critical care, specialist referral surgery, and working with exotic species. There is so much to love about and learn within this industry; each day is different to the next!

Hobbies and Interests

When not working or studying, you can find Shelby in the company of her animals! She loves going on outdoor adventures and hikes with her dog, cosying up with her cats, or playing with her rabbit and rats. Shelby is always seeking to welcome more furry, feathered, or scaly additions to her family. Beyond this, Shelby loves spending time with her partner – either enjoying good food or binge-watching tv shows.

Owned Pets

Shelby is a proud pet parent to her Border Collie, Apollo, as well as her 4 rescue cats named Knox, Dorian, Austen, and Edgar. She also shares her home with her rabbit, Parker, and 4 rats named Otis, Noah, Alfie, and Ruben.

Cannot speak highly enough of the caring and lovely staff at UPV Osborne Park. Particularly to Dr Kelly for the wonderful treatment and compassion she displayed caring for my much loved Bugz. Definitely recommend this practice. Simply the Best.

Excellent service, caring and professional advice, and very good handling for our pet bird, on our first visit today at The Unusual Pet Vets, Jindalee. Very helpful, and they also provided further reading for us via email after our appointment regarding a few things we asked about. All staff were lovely and friendly – from the initial phone booking (you can do internet bookings too) to and including the consult. Thank you very much – we’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend.
