Vet Nurse Kelsey

Vet Nurse Kelsey

Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing

Kelsey has always had a special interest in birds, which led her to start volunteering at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary in 2009 where she spent her time cleaning, feeding and providing enrichment for the sanctuary birds. It was here that she realised her dream of becoming a veterinary nurse and she promptly started her studies.

While completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2011, Kelsey spent her spare time continuing her duties at the Sanctuary, but also took on the additional responsibilities of nursing at Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, driving the RSPCA Wildlife Ambulance, and working at a small animal clinic. Since 2012 she has worked at an exclusive avian and exotics clinic, honing her nursing skills in caring for these unique pets. She has special interests in surgical nursing, avian enrichment, and invertebrate care.

Kelsey is a member of the Veterinary Nurse Council of Australia (VNCA) and a registered veterinary nurse with the Australian Veterinary Nurse and Technician (AVNAT) Registration scheme. Amongst other things she has attained her radiology license and has presented as a speaker at various conferences around Australia.

Hobbies and Interests

Krystal enjoys camping and off road adventures with her family and friends, spending time at the beach, and going out exploring nature. She is also a music fan and spends weekends going to concerts or festivals where she can.

Owned Pets

Kelsey has a large menagerie of pets! She has an aviary of parrots, a lovely olive python, a backyard filled with tiny bantam chickens, a pigeon named Hai-coo, and a dedicated room in the house just for her insect pets!

Cannot speak highly enough of the caring and lovely staff at UPV Osborne Park. Particularly to Dr Kelly for the wonderful treatment and compassion she displayed caring for my much loved Bugz. Definitely recommend this practice. Simply the Best.

It’s a great vet for exotic pets, we would like to thank Dr Kiara and the nurses for all the help they have done for the bunnies especially when they have been unwell.

Excellent service, caring and professional advice, and very good handling for our pet bird, on our first visit today at The Unusual Pet Vets, Jindalee. Very helpful, and they also provided further reading for us via email after our appointment regarding a few things we asked about. All staff were lovely and friendly – from the initial phone booking (you can do internet bookings too) to and including the consult. Thank you very much – we’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend.
