Dr Briony Jones

BSc, DVM

Dr Briony graduated from Murdoch University in 2023 and was honoured to be offered a position at The Unusual Pet Vets. Having grown up with birds, rabbits and guinea pigs, she’s always had an interest in exotic species.

In addition, Briony was interested in wildlife, which led her to complete a BSc in Zoology and Conservation Biology at UWA. She spent summers tagging flatback turtles at Barrow Island before commencing her veterinary studies. During vet school, she became a rabbit foster carer for Don’t Go Astray, which spurred her passion for exotic medicine.

Hobbies and Interests

In her spare time, Dr Briony loves taking time out at the beach, attending quiz nights with friends, playing social mixed netball, and travelling. Her travel has allowed her to see a variety of cultures and beautiful landscapes, and where she can, she has incorporated working with native species into her travel plans. A recent highlight was working with lions, cheetahs, and caracals on a conservation medicine field trip in Namibia.

Owned Pets

Dr Briony shares her home with her staffy, Indiana, her four chickens, Esme, Violet, Peggy and Beatrice, her foster rabbit, Storm, and Peep the lorikeet.
