Dr Heidi Chan
BSc (Biology), DVM
With a lifelong dedication to animal care, Dr Heidi has built a diverse and hands-on career working with a wide range of species. She first completed a biology degree, then gained practical experience caring for laboratory animals and working as a zookeeper. She later earned her veterinary degree from the University of Melbourne in 2016.
Following graduation, Dr Heidi worked in a small animal clinic in Western Sydney, where she developed a strong interest in avian medicine—an area close to her heart, having kept various parrots as pets for most of her life. After taking a break from clinical work to raise her two children, Dr Heidi relocated to the Gold Coast and resumed her veterinary career with UPV.
Hobbies and interests
Outside of work, Dr Heidi enjoys swimming at the beach with the kids, planning the next great escape, and doodling about birds and animals.
Owned Pets
Dr Heidi shares her home with Max, a spirited half-chihuahua who is also a world-champion ball chaser.
