Dr Tristan Rich (He/him)
BVSc MANZCVS (Unusual Pets)
Dr Tristan brings a wealth of experience, having spent the better part of two decades looking after the unusual pets and wildlife at Australia’s (and the southern hemisphere’s) largest animal hospital. He has been an active member of the unusual Pets and Avian Vets interest group of the AVA since its inception, previously serving as secretary.
Tristan was one of the founding members of the Unusual Pets chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists and has been involved with the examination team on a number of occasions.
Hobbies and Interests
Dr Tristan enjoys spending his free time with his wife and young son, either creating urban adventures around Melbourne or exploring all the amazing things on offer around their property in South Gippsland. Tristan is a Flemington local and, after many years in the area, is still finding plenty of new cafes and restaurants to sample.
Owned Pets
While in the past, Tristan has had an array of pets, including free-range house rabbits and various reptiles and amphibians. Currently, Tristan and his family share their house with a rescue dog called Hazel (the breed of which he finds too embarrassing to admit as a vet), a turtle, some geriatric green tree frogs and an aquarium.
