Dr Jaclyn Gatt (she/her)

Dr Jaclyn Gatt is a veterinarian with over 15 years of experience in clinical practice, with a focus on emergency and critical care, surgery, exotic companion mammals, and native wildlife. She holds postgraduate qualifications in conservation medicine and health and medical sciences, and has a strong interest in the role of veterinary medicine within a One Health framework.
Jaclyn is committed to working in partnership with pet owners to achieve the best possible outcomes for animals in their care. She also contributes to the profession as an examiner for the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists. She has served in advisory roles on animal ethics and welfare committees. She is part of the state wildlife emergency response network, supporting the triage and care of wildlife impacted by natural disasters.
Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, Jaclyn enjoys baking (especially gluten-free), discovering new coffee spots, and travelling. She’s currently learning Spanish and also enjoys scuba diving and horse riding.
Owned Pets
Jaclyn shares her life with a variety of animals, including three cats, seven chickens, two rabbits, a coral reef tank (home to a zebra moray eel named Crossing), an axolotl, and a horse. She also keeps parrots—Earl the African Grey and Ava the Yellow-crowned Amazon rule the indoors, while the aviary houses a flock of Asiatic parrots.
