Dr Corey Paulsen
BVSc (Hons)
Dr Corey’s love for animals of all different creeds started at a young age, watching Attenborough and Irwin documentaries about animals that were feathered, furry and otherwise. He knew he wanted to be a vet since primary school, and this dream was realised when he enrolled in the University of Queensland’s Veterinary Science program in 2020. Early in the degree, Dr Corey realised he wanted to treat weird and wonderful animals and attended placements in many exotics places, including parrot sanctuaries, Seaworld and UPV Chermside itself. After graduating and starting his career in small animal GP, he joined the Unusual Pet Vets team and is now committed to helping out your beloved birds, reptiles and other unusual pets.
Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, Dr Corey enjoys playing guitar, banjo, mandolin and piano as well as fishing, bird watching and embroidering.
Owned Pets
Dr Corey currently doesn’t have any pets, but grew up with his beloved cocker spaniel, Thunder, as well as various fish and a (short lived) snail.
