Dr Lydia Xu

My love of small pocket pets started at an early age and I grew up with a few rabbits and guinea pigs. I graduated in 2009 from The University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. Over the next few years, I have worked in both small animal General Practices and RSPCA where I had more opportunities to see and treat pocket pets and had gained a special interest in them. After a few years, I commenced working in various Emergency centers both in Perth and Melbourne before moving back to General practice. I had joined the team at Melbourne Rabbit Clinic in 2020 and then decided to be a full-time exotic vet when Unusual pet vet Ferntree Gully started in 2021.

Hobbies and Interests

Outside of work I enjoy travelling, hiking, camping, playing piano, and spending time with family and friends.
