Dr Grace Miles
BSc DVM
Dr Grace has had a lifelong passion for birds, wildlife, and all things a little unusual. From birdwatching, volunteering at conservation organisations and becoming a wildlife carer, focusing on the rehabilitation of our native birds, Grace has always kept these animals close at heart.
Originally from Perth, Grace graduated from Murdoch University in 2023 before beginning her veterinary career in general practice in Coffs Harbour. During this time, she eagerly embraced every opportunity to treat exotic pets and wildlife, while building strong relationships with both her patients and their owners. She is thrilled to be part of The Unusual Pet Vets Sunshine Coast team, where she can dedicate her career to caring for the animals she has always loved.
Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, Grace loves spending time outdoors and making the most of nature. When the swell is good you’ll usually find her surfing, while hiking and camping are favourite weekend adventures whenever she gets the chance. She has also recently discovered a love for both indoor and outdoor rock climbing. On rainy days, she’s happiest relaxing at home with a good book, a cup of tea, and her furry and feathered companions close by.
Owned Pets
Grace shares her life with two very special companions. Her much-loved cockatiel, Drongo, has been by her side for many years and is always up for an adventure. Whether travelling, joining Grace on hikes in his backpack carrier, or simply causing a little mischief, Drongo is never far away.
As a young bird, Drongo was treated at our Perth clinics, giving Grace an early appreciation for the exceptional care provided by The Unusual Pet Vets. (And yes, his name comes from the bird species, not the Australian slang!)
More recently, Grace adopted Kasumi, a stray cat she met while working in Coffs Harbour. Kasumi was extremely unwell when she was rescued and wasn’t expected to live for long, but more than a year later, she has made an incredible recovery and is now thriving, proving that sometimes the best success stories begin with a second chance.
