The Unusual Pet Vets Ferntree Gully (Melbourne Rabbit Clinic) is a busy urban practice and currently exclusively treats rabbits and guinea pigs.
Veterinary Student Applications
All prospective students must select the dates you would like to attend The Unusual Pet Vets Ferntree Gully using the calendar below. Please fill in the form beneath the calendar with your requested dates and cover letter. Not all placements can be accepted due to the large volumes of students that spend time with us. An interest in unusual pet medicine is essential to ensure you get the most out of the placement.
Please note that at this stage we are only accepting students in their final year of Veterinary Science studies, placement is for a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of one month.
If you are not in final year but looking to do pre-clinical placement, unfortunately we are not able to accommodate you. Please apply when you are preparing for your final year.
Insurance
Veterinary science students will be asked to provide adequate insurance documentation. This must be provided two weeks prior to arrival and is usually available through your university. Overseas applicants are also advised to consider personal travel insurance in addition to university coverage.
Accommodation
Accommodation is not provided at the clinic.
Overseas Students
Visas
Overseas students attending training placements are required by Australian Government legislation to enter the country on a Student Visa. The application process can be viewed at www.immi.gov.au/students/.
A copy of this visa must be supplied two weeks prior to arrival.
